TNI-PEOPLE SYNERGY: CONSTRUCTION OF YONIF TP 903/BALUSEDA FACILITIES IN WEST NIAS OFFICIALLY BEGINS

WEST NIAS, May 7, 2026 — The construction of facilities and infrastructure for the 903/Baluseda Territorial Construction Infantry Battalion (Yonif TP) has officially begun. The strategic project, under the auspices of the Military Regional Command (Kodam) I/Bukit Barisan, was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony led by the Regent of West Nias in Lahomi, West Nias Regency, North Sumatra, on Thursday (7/5/2026).

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended in person by the Regent of West Nias, Dr. Eliyunus Waruwu, S.Pt., M.Si., the Commander of Military District Command (Kodim) 0213/Nias, Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Sampe T. Butar Butar, S.I.P., the Commander of Yonif TP 903/Baluseda, Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Anotona Zebua, S.M., members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), community leaders, and the local residents who donated the land.

Representing the board of directors of BIRU, Mr. Ade Prasetyo conveyed in his speech that BIRU is committed to carrying out the construction in stages, prioritizing quality workmanship, timeliness, and excellent coordination with all relevant parties.

According to him, the construction of the Yonif TP 903/Baluseda facilities is not merely an infrastructure project, but also part of an effort to support the strengthening of regional defense while simultaneously driving regional development in West Nias Regency.

The land for the construction of Yonif TP 903/Baluseda is the result of contributions from local residents who voluntarily donated their land to support the establishment of the unit. The community’s support is considered a tangible form of synergy between the public and the TNI in strengthening regional defense while simultaneously supporting local development.

The construction of facilities and infrastructure for the Territorial Construction Infantry Battalion (Yonif TP) is a strategic step toward strengthening defense readiness in the island region and is expected to support the execution of duties by Yonif TP 903/Baluseda. In addition to reinforcing defense infrastructure, this project’s development is also projected to create a multiplier effect for the local economy. The construction activities are expected to open up business opportunities, boost the local economic turnover, and drive regional development in Lahomi and its surrounding areas.
